Rideshare & Delivery Work After a DUI in Nevada: Platform Rules

Rideshare and delivery platforms use third-party services like Checkr, Sterling, and HireRight to pull county court records, Nevada DMV driving abstracts, and national criminal databases. Nevada courts report DUI convictions to the state repository within 30 days of sentencing, which then appears on your DMV driver history report and in county court indexes. Most platforms run checks at onboarding and annually thereafter. Uber and Lyft re-screen every 12 months and deactivate drivers whose records change. DoorDash and Instacart typically re-check at irregular intervals or when a customer complaint triggers manual review. If you were approved before your conviction and your next background check runs after sentencing, you will be deactivated. Nevada DUI convictions remain on your driving record permanently unless sealed. First-offense standard DUI becomes eligible for sealing 7 years after case closure. Aggravated DUI (BAC ≥0.18, injury, child passenger) is not eligible for sealing. Even after sealing, the conviction may still appear in county court indexes accessible to background check vendors.

DoorDash and Amazon Flex calculate eligibility from conviction date, not arrest date or license suspension date. If you were convicted on March 15, 2018, you become eligible to apply on March 16, 2025. The 7-year clock does not pause if you move out of state or if your license remains suspended longer than required. Instacart does not publish a fixed waiting period. Most approvals occur 5–7 years post-conviction for standard first-offense DUI with no repeat violations. Aggravated DUI convictions are rarely approved regardless of time elapsed. Nevada allows restricted licenses during suspension for work purposes in some cases. If your DUI suspension has not yet ended, you may qualify for a restricted license that permits driving to and from employment. Restricted licenses do not allow rideshare or delivery work because these jobs involve transporting passengers or goods for hire, not commuting to a fixed worksite. Once your 7-year waiting period ends, apply to delivery platforms in the order of lowest barrier to highest: DoorDash first, then Amazon Flex, then Instacart.
